Page Dickey and her husband had lovingly cared for Duck Hill, their well-known but high maintenance garden in Salem, New York. They needed a home and landscape that demanded less of them. Uprooted is the engaging account of moving to a larger site (17 acres) with a goal of making the garden less work. Page’s solution was to approach gardening with less curation and more appreciation of nature’s sensibilities. She used native plants to amplify the beauty of untamed meadows and woodland and kept cultivated beds small and manageable.

Page is a Garden Designer and the author of multiple books, and has written articles for House and Garden, Architectural Digest, Horticulture, Fine Gardening, Garden Design and The New York Times. Page is a Director Emeritus of the Garden Conservancy, and one of the two founders of its Open Days Program.
We are honored indeed to have Page as our guest speaker here in Ridgewood for our Gardeners Day Event!
